It has been almost a year now since we started on the current album.
Grits and Grouper set out to make some soup and realized that it must simmer for quite some time...
Word on the streets of BA though is that the Grits and Grouper Album is nearly finished! Or at least, this is the word on Waverly Lane, where the band meets to practice and chip away at the record. Mixing is completed and now the audio tracks are being mastered and having finishing touches put on.
The band had a fun time doing a photo shoot recently to get pictures to potentially use on the cd case. Album artwork is still being finalized, but the band has come up with a few designs which they are pleased with.
Expect to hear about an album release party soon! You will most certainly be invited! Keep checking this site for more info.
Many people wonder how our band started and how we got our name. Here is a little story to explain:
Landon, Derek, and Greg were part of a little unnamed band playing at an autumn festival benefit concert. Derek had assembled this group because he believed that good music could come from such an agreeable amalgamation. At the same benefit concert, there was a powerhouse guitar-banjo duo playing and singing their hearts out.
The two groups had known each of each other, but never heard each other play. After that first meeting though, there was immense mutual respect. Derek boldly suggested a grand band merger between the two groups, making one mighty super group! (Super group... Grouper Soup... What goes with Grouper Soup? Well, grits doesn't, but it sounds like it should! Grits and Grouper Soup, boom.)
Over time, a few members of the band left to do different projects and pursue different paths, leaving the band in its current form as described above.
